New Orleans Wednesday at the Square
There are so many opportunities to listen to music in New Orleans. If you are in town on a Wednesday in the Spring/Summer, make sure to check out the free concert series Wednesday at the Square in Lafayette Square.
New Orleans Wednesday at the Square
Sponsored by the Young Business Council, Lafayette Square is turned into a block party every Wednesday night in the 12-week concert series. The locals bring out their lawn chairs, blankets or just sit on the grass and enjoy their cities local talent. In tradition of all the New Orleans “fests”, food booths line the square with local businesses showcasing local artwork and FOOD. Of course! The system works where you buy tickets ($1 each) and then can trade the tickets for dishes. Most dishes are between $5-7 and include the New Orleans specialties: Crawfish Etoufee, Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, Pulled Pork and Snoballs. You won’t leave hungry. Adult beverages are also available. It takes a bit getting used to New Orleans open container rule and drinking a cocktail in the park. The square is especially beautiful as the sun sets and the historic building are illuminated. This is a great opportunity to mingle with the locals enjoying the early evenings of good food, drinks, music and company in New Orleans. Website: YLC Wednesday at the Square. Check here for a listing of artists on each Wednesday. Where: Lafayette Square[ Cost: FREE – The free concert series is supported by the sponsors and food and drink sales. Come Hungry & Thirsty: Please remember this is a fundraiser, and do not bring outside food or drinks. Concession sales keep it free!Inspired to visit New Orleans?
