When I started traveling for work, my cars were often rented for me through corporate plans. I think I have rented from every major car company out there and am also a part of all the major brands point programs.  While price is always a major factor, you can get major perks ie fast checkout, car upgrades and discounts if you are loyal to one brand.  If you are consistently renting from the same company and in the same region, you will find the perks and pricing in your favor to stick with one major carrier.

I also like that their app keeps my reservations from all the carriers they service nice and organized, they offer free cancellations, and their customer service is wonderful.  I have called in a few times when I have had a complicated booking with a ferry transfer in New Zealand or needed other assistance and the issue has been handled quickly and professionally.
